An oldie but a goodie. Mom, you can spend all the time you want with Lilly Kate now, just as soon as we get down to Florida!
The Robins' Nest would like to congratulate my mom, Julia, on her retirement! Today (Friday) is the last day of her 33.2 year teaching career.
Mom started out teaching music at Ruskin Elementary in 1968. She took ten years off while staying home with my sister and me, and she completed her coursework to become a classroom teacher. She returned to teaching in 1980, teaching sixth grade at Williams Elementary. She left Williams after completing her Gifted certification and started teaching Gifted students at Potter. From Potter she moved to Mann Middle School in Brandon, where she taught for several years before leaving in 2003 to open up a new school, Mulrennen Middle School. That's where she'll be spending her last school day today!
What a career, Mom! You should be very proud. Just think of all the lives you've touched and kids you've inspired...
We wish you a great last day and MANY happy days of retirement to enjoy! We love you!!!
Congratulations Julia. You've earned a well deserved break. Now you'll have time to do all things you've wanted to. Wishing you the best!! Happy Retirement!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, little sister! Believe me, you will wonder when you ever had time to work!

Julia, this will be the next chapter in your life. There are so many activities out there just waiting for you. You'll wonder how you ever had the time to teach. :) Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteBest Wishes, Carol
What a week you've had, Julia! First the Rays' miracle comeback, and now retirement. My hearty congratulations.
ReplyDeleteI just talked with Mom, and she tells me she has tried several times to post a comment, but it keeps erasing when she tries to publish it! She says thanks to you all for the kind comments. She is thrilled about the Rays and has had a great week! She also says she doesn't anticipate any problems adjusting to not having to wake up and go to work. Thanks again for all the well wishes!
